Friggin’ Optimists

Several pairs of expectant eyes were trained on the door as the two men came through. Gregori’s laughter had echoed up the halls long before the titan was even in sight. Captain Jacobs, in contrast, was radiating weary irritation.

Hendrick grunted. “If you don’t like it so much, ignore it.”

The younger man growled. “It’s not so much the thing, as it is this idiot.” He glared at Gregori.

“But the two of you are so cute!” His subordinate protested. Jacobs snorted. “Stan suggests, that the next time we’re here, it’s during operation hours. Then you’re getting into a wetsuit!”
