Shattering Explained

This post changed angles so many times: Rico would be in the room when they arrived, Rico would be watching them both walk out, Rico would be analyzing in a scientific manner, Nathan would talk to Rico, Hendrick would walk right past Rico.

Right. It all felt removed and rather uninteresting. Much like you were missing the action and just watching from the sidelines. Like Rico usually is.

The title was originally ‘The Ants Go Marching’ because Rico was watching the two army men march out the doors. I kept the ant concept, but changed who it applied to.

I liked how I managed to create some kind of action, while still allowing Rico to think. I don’t think this kid would do all that well in combat. As he is now anyway. It also gave me the opportunity to give an idea of how cold the labs were. Not quite anti-social, but definitely competitive. In that situation, you can’t afford not to play politics. You get left in a crummy slave job for the rest of your career if you don’t join in.
