Gregori led the way to the kitchen, speaking over his shoulder. “I wasn’t lying.” He chuckled. “She knew what was going on, but Syd still wanted her surprise party.”
Behind him, Hendrick made a curious sound that was almost a laugh. “You don’t know do you?”
“Know what?” Gregori waved towards the chairs by the table and ducked into a side room. Scanning the dark room, he snagged a loose shirt and shrugged into it as he walked back into the light.
