One of the perks of being a dragon rancher was being in complete control over half a dozen dragons. At least, that’s what Chris’ job description said. Reality was not so clean.
“Cassy! Get Robert back from that bronze!”
Really, one would think the hired help understood they were here to assist him, not stand around and gawk at the beasts playing in the water.
The idiot in question stumbled back as the dark-skinned girl latched onto his arm, and tugged. He wasn’t in danger of being bitten, but being trampled or rolled on was another bet altogether. As the two humans moved away, two other over-sized lizards tackled the bronze dragon, tumbling en masse into the river in an impressive tangle of scales, leather, and horns.
The resulting wave of displaced murky water swamped half the twenty ranchers who were supervising.
Considering the heat of the day though, Chris was happy to be dripping wet. Now if only he wasn’t wearing leather.
Prompt: Heat wave & river
A/N: New prompt list! I’m going to try keeping up a weekly update on these. Seriously, I need to write more, both independently and consistently.
